General Info

Tucked away at Misiones de los Tapes 65 in Colonia del Sacramento, Jorge Páez Vilaro offers a dining experience that feels both relaxed and thoughtfully curated. From the moment you walk in, there’s a sense of calm that makes it ideal whether you’re planning a romantic evening or simply enjoying some quiet solo dining.

The menu is focused yet satisfying, with a clear emphasis on fresh ingredients and balanced flavors. One standout dish that truly captures the kitchen’s approach is the Lenguado a la Plancha. Light, perfectly cooked, and delicately seasoned, it delivers a clean, fresh taste that feels both comforting and refined. It’s the kind of plate that doesn’t need much explanation-just a fork and a bit of time to enjoy it properly.

To complement the food, the house also offers a selection of beverages that feel just as intentional. The Cerveza Artesanal Limón y Maracuyá is especially memorable. Slightly citrusy with a tropical twist, it pairs beautifully with seafood and adds a refreshing note to the overall dining experience. It’s one of those drinks you’ll likely hear recommended in reviews-and for good reason.

Beyond the dishes, the service plays a big role in shaping the experience here. Table service is attentive without being intrusive, and everything flows at a comfortable pace. Whether you’re staying for a full meal or just stopping in for great coffee, the staff maintains a friendly and professional approach that makes you feel genuinely welcome.

The setting itself leans toward intimate rather than busy, which makes it particularly appealing for couples or anyone looking to unwind. At the same time, it’s perfectly suited for solo visits, offering a quiet space where you can enjoy the menu at your own rhythm. Practical touches like a clean, accessible restroom and well-organized seating add to the ease of the visit.

Overall, this restaurant stands out not because it tries too hard, but because it gets the essentials right-quality food, thoughtful service, and a comfortable atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you’d return to, not just for the flavors, but for the feeling it leaves behind.

What customers say?

“ We had a wonderful experience. We were aiming for another restaurant that was full and luckily end up at La Casa de Jorge Paez Vilaró and had the pleasure to eat surrounded by the artist paintings. The food was great with a couple of good vegetarian pasta options). I had the vegetarian tortellini with caprese sauce and it was delicious. It is not cheap but we thought that the price was compatible with the experience. Oh, and service was good too. ”

“ To eat sth delicious in Uruguay is not easy especially if you are not a "milanesa" or "parilla" fan. But here in Colonia this place shoud be adequate especially it is an art Gallery at the same time. Very good filet de mignon (Main) and perfectly served tuna with avocado (entree) made my day. Ceviche was not as good that's why according french restaurant standards I would score it 3.8 or max. 4 but here making comparison with other places I score it 5. ”

“ Ordered steak. Was slightly overcooked but overall food was good. ”

- Eddie Castro -

“ All of our dishes were outstanding! Great service and ambiance. The frutilla a la pimienta desert is a must. Don’t miss this culinary experience while in Colonia. ”

- Luis Lluberas -

“ A beautiful place... well located in the heart of the old town... the food is plentiful, delicious, and hot!! Which is no small detail... in most places it's served lukewarm, almost cold... the atmosphere is very peaceful and the staff... the girls are super friendly... it's a pleasure to return and recommend it... ”

- Adriana Bruno -
